Age of Empires Online Animations Part 9 The Tale of the Big Bad Boarolf

The wolf and the boar are the two first gaia enemies you’ll see on from the Greek campaign. What’s great about them is that you can hunt them for food resources. A good strategy is to find a boar with your Scout, and kite him back to your town center so that you can grab that sweet gamey pig meat right at your doorstep. That swine!

The wolf is the first enemy animal I animated, and I have to admit, I don’t really like most of the animations. Why do I show them then? Beats the hell out of me. But there will probably be animations that you see here that you won’t see in the game. Like the bored animations. Yup, these units have bored animations. And for anyone who has ever played AOE you know that bored animations will only play if a unit stands still long enough. Well these units NEVER stop moving long enough to do the bored animations. It wasn’t until I was animating the lion and crocodile that I realized we weren’t going to be seeing different behavior out of enemy animal units; so the boar was the last enemy animal unit that I created bored animations for.

Animations require quicktime to view.

The boar was the last Greek campaign non controllable animals I animated, and these animations, I like! This character has the exact behavior of the wolf, but is tougher doing more damage and has more hit points.

Pumba from Disney’s The Lion King was valued reference for the boar.

That’s the end of part 9 of my Age of Empires Online animations post. Thanks for viewing. Stay tuned for part 10!
